» BY-LAWS Template. You can now go to the MD PTA Membership webpage and download the draft bylaws template. Scroll down to the bottom where it says Members Only. Key in your user name and password which can be found on the back of your membership card. You can then use this template to draft your bylaws.  Your final bylaws submission to Maryland PTA must be completed on the booklet that was sent to all PTA Presidents in the summer white box mailing.  If you do not have this booklet, you can request one from the Maryland PTA office.  There are also some available at the MCCPTA office as well.

MCCPTA Performing Arts Festival
Saturday, May 12, 1:30pm at
Rockville Town Square Plaza
and
Sunday, May 13, 1:30pm at
Veterans Plaza at the Silver Spring Civic Building


The Montgomery County Council of Parent Teacher Associations presents the first annual Performing Arts Festival. This is a FREE event and a family-fun way to spend Mother's Day weekend! MCCPTA Performing Arts Festival will showcase music, dance and other creative talent of young people in our region. The weekend event will feature kids of all ages in jazz bands, dance ensembles, choral groups, and more. Please join us!

As is tradition, the Delegates Assembly originally scheduled for May 22 has been cancelled. We hope all will join us in celebration of our volunteers at our Annual Presidents and Principals Dinner on May 17.

» Proposed Shift of Pension Funding on to Counties

Click Here to oppose the pension shift

We are now in the midst of budget season and are in need of your voices. The primary concern that is facing all counties in Maryland right now is the Governor's proposal to shift the cost of teacher pensions to the counties. There is some support within the Maryland General Assembly for this shift...at least until they hear from you!

Why advocate?

  • Shifting the cost of teacher pensions to the counties will cost Montgomery County $47 million next year, $61 million the following year, and $71 million the year after that. $47 million translates into approximately 500 positions or, for the school setting, an additional 2-3 students per classroom. More.

How to advocate?

We need many voices on this. Please take the time and initiative to encourage your community to take one (or more) of several routes to share their opposition to the pension shift:

 MCCPTA Update on Superintendent's Proposed FY 2013 Operating Budget

 » The Superintendent's $2.13 billion proposed operating budget seeks funding at the same per pupil level as last year. Taking into account increased enrollment, the request represents a 2% ($41 million) increase over last year's budget, and is the lowest requested increase in more than a decade.
