By-laws - Maintains the MCCPTA Local PTA/PTSA by-laws file and initiates amendments to MCCPTA by-laws as needed. Conducts workshops to assist local PTAs with by-laws procedures.

Cable TV - Acts Provides programming focused on the mission of PTA and current activities of local PTAs and children.

Capital Improvement Program Budget Reviews and coordinates work of PTAs relating to the MCPS Capital Improvements Program and monitors the implementation of the MCPS Facilities Policy. Develops MCCPTA budget position statements.

Community Outreach - Initiate and establish regular dialogue with major parent organizations, identify common advocacy goals,and participate in their major events.

Michelle Yu

Counseling & Guidance Serves as a liaison to the MCPS Advisory Committee on Guidance and Counseling. Provides information and resources to guidance advisory committees at the local schools.

Cultural Arts - Oversees an introductory workshop for cultural arts chairs from local schools, and supports high-quality performances to enrich the educational program of children in MCPS. Shares successful programs among local schools and cooperates with the chair of the Superintendent’s Committee for Performances in the Schools.

Curriculum - Seeks to acquaint MCCPTA and local PTAs with new and changing curriculum developments at the national, state and county levels. Attends the MCPS Council on Instruction meetings.

Down County Consortium Coordinator - Coordinates the efforts of the PTAs in the Down County Consortium with special attention to the needs of the high school consortium programs and the vertical articulation process from middle school to high school.

English Speakers for Other Languages (ESOL) - Focuses on the needs of ESOL children and their families by providing information and support. Serves as a liaison to MCPS committees.

Finance  Establishes the annual budget for MCCPTA.

Gifted Child - Focuses on the needs of gifted children by providing information, guidance, and support to PTAs. Serves as liaison to MCPS committees.

Grading and Reporting - Monitors implementation of the grading and reporting policy within MCPS.

Health - Advocates for healthy school environments and the provision of resources to the local schools for health and substance abuse issues. Representation from this committee serves on the Montgomery County School Health Council.

    Tracy Fox

High School (Conference Task Force)- Convened to plan and present a high school conference focused on issues relating to curriculum, graduation and exploration of models of learning at the high school level.

Legislative - Follows state education legislation and strives to influence its passage where deemed appropriate by MCCPTA membership. Presentation of legislation to MCCPTA delegates is one of the key duties of this committee.

Listserves Moderator This committee is responsible for maintaining the two MCCPTA email lists: MCCPTA_Bulletin and MCCPTA_Delegates.

MCCPTA Office - Oversees the operation of the MCCPTA office and supervises the office manager.

 

    Jane de Winter

Membership/ Outreach - Strives to increase PTA membership in order to foster commitment to PTA mission and objects. Provides support to local PTAs in their membership outreach efforts.

Patricia Carpio

Middle School Addresses issues at the middle school level, coordinating work with other MCCPTA committee chairs on projects relating to middle school interests and sharing successful programs among local PTAs.

Nominating  Nominates candidates for MCCPTA elected officers and oversees nomination of Area Vice Presidents and Cluster Coordinators.  This committee consists of seven members, one from each area and one at large.

Operating Budget - Develops MCCPTA budget position statements and provides information and support to local PTAs on budget issues.

Parent Leadership - Monitors and assists in the implementation of the MCPS Parent Involvement Policy and supports local PTAs in their parent involvement efforts.

Public Relations - Furthers community awareness of MCCPTA's work by publicizing MCCPTA activities and positions. Serves as a liaison to the media, speaks for MCCPTA as requested and advises on public relations matters.

Reflections - Oversees the Reflections Program, a National PTA program, offering students an opportunity to submit and display their creative work.

Safety Monitors the implementation of the MCPS Security Plan and informs and supports local PTAs on issues related to safety of students in the schools.

   Pam Moomau

Special Education -  Works to ensure the timely and appropriate implementation of laws regarding the education of special needs children. Supports the local school committees and serves as a resource on MCPS alternative programs.

Special Events  Arranges for hospitality (food and beverages) at specified MCCPTA dinners and events

 

Paula Robinson

Spotlight - Edits and publishes the MCCPTA newsletter, which provides information about educational programs and issues.

Technology - Works - Provides assistance to local PTAs and MCCPTA in the use of technology in education to identify computer-related needs and to help meet those needs.

Training - Works with the Maryland  PTA to plan and provide PTA training. Responds to training requests from local PTAs. Builds a cadre of trainers, and works cooperatively with MCPS on joint training for parents and staff.
