The MCCPTA Nominating Committee is charged with presenting a slate of nominees for officers, Area Vice-Presidents, and Cluster Coordinators for election at the Annual Meeting held at the April Delegate Assembly on April 28, 2009.
MCCPTA Officers
The nominating committee will propose a slate of officers for MCCPTA. Only one candidate may be nominated for each officer position. The officers are president, vice president for educational issues, vice president for administration, vice president for programs, vice president for legislation, recording secretary, corresponding secretary, and treasurer. The slate of nominees will be presented to the MCCPTA executive board, PTA presidents and delegates at least thirty days before the election. All candidates must consent to be nominated. Additional nominations for each office may be made from the floor, again with consent of the nominees. Annual elections are held at the April Delegates’ Assembly.
Area Vice Presidents
In addition, each area representative of the nominating committee forms and chairs an area nominating committee. The area committees will have six members, chosen from the PTA/PTSA presidents and cluster coordinators from that area (in addition to the chair). Each cluster must be represented. The area committees must be formed by February 1 and must submit recommendations and qualifications for one area vice president to the nominating committee by March 15. Additional nominations may be made from the floor by any member of the MCCPTA voting body from the area represented by the area vice president. Annual Meeting, area vice presidents shall be elected by ballot separately by MCCPTA delegates who are members of the local units within the area the area vice president represents.
Cluster Coordinators
Each area representative of the MCCPTA nominating committee shall be responsible for ensuring that each cluster holds a meeting at which each PTA in the cluster is represented by its president, or his or her alternates, for the purpose of nominating at least one (1) and no more than three (3) cluster coordinators. A current cluster coordinator will submit the name(s) to the MCCPTA nominating committee by March 15. Additional nominations may be made from the floor by any member of the MCCPTA voting body from that cluster. At the Annual Meeting, cluster coordinators shall be elected by ballot separately by MCCPTA delegates who are members of the local units within the area the cluster coordinator represents.
Please look around you and think about how you can participate as a leader of MCCPTA. If you are interested in one of these leadership positions, or would like to nominate another qualified candidate, please fill out the attached form and return it to the MCCPTA office by February 9, 2007.
